R.Steiner

Rudolf Steiner was born on February 27, 1861, the son of a simple railway employee under the Austro-Hungarian Empire and died on March 30, 1925, in Dornach, Switzerland. His life and work are a unique phenomenon of the 20th century, characterized by tireless travel throughout Europe and over 6,000 lectures. His diverse activities included the design of the avant-garde, concrete-cast second Goetheanum. He studied natural sciences and engineering in Vienna, received his doctorate in philosophy from the University of Rostock, published Goethe's scientific writings in Weimar, founded anthroposophy in Berlin, Waldorf education in Stuttgart, biodynamic agriculture in Koberwitz near Breslau, anthroposophically expanded medicine, and curative education. He inspired a spiritually influenced organic architecture, a new art of movement, eurythmy, and a renewed art of the word.
